Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:



The CNC Machinist is responsible for assembling high quality cutting tools used in various industrial applications. In addition, the role will set up and operate surface grinders, electronic discharge drill (EDM Drill) and blasting machines. The position requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work with specialized equipment and materials to ensure the efficient production of engineered cutting tools.



PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:



  • Receive and review work assignments; verify that work pieces and routing match regarding count, type and proper sequence.

  • Assemble cutting tools such as drills, milling cutters and taps according to specific blueprints, technical drawings and work instructions.

  • Ensure all components meet quality standards by performing inspections after the assembly process.

  • Select and prepare raw materials for assembly, ensuring proper fit and alignment.

  • Operate machinery and tools, such as balancing equipment, manual milling machine, and drill presses, to assemble components.

  • Inspect parts for defects and ensure proper dimensions of assembled tools.

  • Work closely with engineers and production managers to resolve any technical issues or quality concerns.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and guidelines.

  • Document assembly processes and maintain accurate records of parts used and completed jobs.

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.

  • Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and ensure the timely delivery of cutting tools.

  • Enter all production information into the data collection system.

  • Responsible for keeping area clean at all time.

  • Monitor equipment performance; report problems and request required maintenance to avoid unnecessary downtime and machine damage or repairs.




EDUCATION:



Associates degree with emphasis in machine tool operation or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.







SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:


  • Previous experience with basic machine operation or related technical training.

  • One year of direct machine setup and operation experience. Previous experience involving principles of grinding.

  • Must be able to read, understand and follow written instructions and shop drawings.

  • Average math skills. Must be able to calculate appropriate machine settings and adjust accordingly.

  • Must be able to use required precision measuring and testing equipment.

  • Computer literate, able to enter programs and directions.

  • Strongly preferred candidates with previous some experience operating CNC machines, surface grinders, EDG and blasting equipment.
