Job summary

Robinson Helicopter Company in Torrance, CA is seeking a full-time CNC Machinist to operate lathes, mills, lasers, and waterjets in our CNC department, aligning with FAA-approved procedures.

You will review blueprints, set up programs, monitor tooling, and apply proper feeds, speeds, and tolerances while maintaining quality and DOT compliance. Overtime is eligible; competitive health plans and a 401k are offered.

Qualifications

• Review blueprints and drawings to determine set-up procedures, machining sequences, and dimensions.
• Familiarity with CNC machine controls and their functions (adjusting tool offset, indicating fixtures or parts, change tools and following along with the part program).
• Ability to monitor tools and attachments to ensure parts are properly cooled and lubricated.
• Knowledge of feeds, speeds, and surface finishes related to blueprint requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and geometric tolerances.
• Basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for calculating material fabrication.
• Must be capable of using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, dial bores, thread gauges, and basic measuring tools.
• Full compliance with the Company’s DOT Antidrug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC lathes, mills, lasers, and waterjets to machine parts per FAA-acceptable procedures.
• Set up jobs by loading programs, selecting fixtures, part holders, and tooling to meet specifications.
• Follow CNC controls, adjust offsets, and verify tooling changes with the part program.
• Ensure proper feeds, speeds, and surface finishes per blueprint requirements.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

CNC Machinists use a variety of CNC lathes, mills, lasers, and waterjets used to cut metal for the manufacturing of helicopters and helicopter parts in accordance with manufacturing procedures and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.

CNC MachinistESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to review blueprints and drawings to determine set-up procedures, machining sequences, and dimensions. Must be able to set-up jobs by loading programs, select fixtures, part holders, and tooling to machine parts to specifications.
• Familiarity with CNC machine controls and their functions (adjusting tool offset, indicating fixtures or parts, change tools and following along with the part program).
