Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a CNC Machinist to support wind solutions by setting up machines, machining parts, and assisting engineering with prototypes to improve production efficiency.

You will align fixtures, load programs, monitor tooling, measure parts, and uphold 6S standards in a fast-paced shop environment. The role emphasizes precision, safety, and teamwork within a growing mechanical services firm.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math functions.
• Ability to understand, perform and retain safety procedures.
• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail and precision.
• Experience using CNC or manual machining equipment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Align and secure fixtures, tools, and materials on machines and set up basic or specialized tools.
• Transfer commands from servers to CNC modules and run machine operations.
• Inspect pieces for proper lubrication and tool wear; replace tools as needed.
• Monitor machines audibly for dull tools or vibrations and adjust accordingly.
• Measure and test finished parts using micrometers and calipers to ensure specs.
• Lead 6S initiatives to keep the shop area clean and organized.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

As key contributor to Wind Solutions by supporting production, machine setting up, trouble shooting and reducing cost of machining. In addition, supporting engineering in developing prototypes and improving efficiencies in production.

• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines. Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
• Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules, and insert control instructions into machine control units to start/stop/pause operation.
• Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated and remove or replace cutting tools as required.
• Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.
• Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers and calipers.
• Build/Create parts by – including but not limited to:
  • a.Cleaning – hand cleaning, tumbling, grinding, sandblasting, etc
  • b.Machining – operating CNC & manual lathe and CNC & manual milling machines
  • c.Assembling – Build full assemblies by assembling sub-components
• Lead daily 6S initiative and keep shop areas clean & organized

Qualifications and Competencies

• Ability to perform basic math functions
• Ability to understand, perform and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures
• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs
• Strong ability to accurately follow instructions, both written and verbal, with limited guidance
• Excellent time management
• Technical background with electrical and/or mechanical products is a plus
• Critical attention to detail
• Ability to operate manual machining tools to include horizontal lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines, and related equipment is desired.
