Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist in the Rocky Point, NY area to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes with strict tolerance requirements. You will work with G-code, Haas/Fanuc controls, and perform in-process checks to ensure parts meet exact specifications.

You should have 2+ years of experience in a precision machine shop, be proficient with measuring tools, and uphold safety protocols in a fast-paced environment. No degree is required for this role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes in a precision machine shop environment.
• Proficient in G-code editing at the machine control interface (Haas experience preferred).
• Demonstrated experience holding tight tolerances using precision handheld measuring instruments.
• Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and commitment to shop safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Setup & Workholding: Secure fixtures, chucks, and vises on mills and lathes, setting work coordinate systems and tool offsets.
• Programming & Control: Load, edit, and run G-code/M-code programs (such as Haas or Fanuc controls) while adjusting feeds, speeds, and coolant levels for optimal cutting.
• Machining Operations: Execute multi-axis milling and precision lathe turning (OD/ID turning, boring, threading, and live tooling).
• Blueprint Reading & GD&T: Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing callouts to manufacture parts to exact specifications.
• Quality Inspection & Maintenance: Perform in-process dimensional checks using micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges while managing tool wear and routine machine maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Setup & Workholding: Secure fixtures, chucks, and vises on mills and lathes, establishing precise work coordinate systems ($G54-G59$) and tool length/radius offsets.
• Programming & Control: Load, edit, and run G-code/M-code programs (such as Haas or Fanuc controls) while adjusting feeds, speeds, and coolant levels for optimal cutting.
• Machining Operations: Execute multi-axis milling and precision lathe turning (OD/ID turning, boring, threading, and live tooling).
• Blueprint Reading & GD&T: Interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing callouts to manufacture parts to exact specifications.
• Quality Inspection & Maintenance: Perform in-process dimensional checks using micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges while managing tool wear and routine machine maintenance.
