Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team in Setauket, NY. You will set up, program, and operate 3- to 5-axis milling and turning centers to fabricate aerospace and commercial components, reading blueprints and GD&T.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience, proficiency in G-code editing (Haas preferred), and a commitment to quality, safety, and process improvements. First-shift, 8 AM to 4 PM; education no degree required.

• Proficient in G-code editing at the machine control interface (Haas experience preferred).
• Experience with reading blueprints and GD&T callouts.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up, program, and operate 3-to-5-axis CNC vertical/horizontal mills and CNC turning centres (lathes) to fabricate high-precision aerospace and commercial components. The ideal candidate possesses blueprint reading capabilities, hands-on control expertise, and a dedication to strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Setup & Workholding: Secure fixtures, chucks, and vises on mills and lathes, establishing precise work coordinate systems ($G54-G59$) and tool length/radius offsets.
• Programming & Control: Load, edit, and run G-code/M-code programs (such as Haas or Fanuc controls) while adjusting feeds, speeds, and coolant levels for optimal cutting.
• Machining Operations: Execute multi-axis milling (facing, pocketing, tapping) and precision lathe turning (OD/ID turning, boring, threading, and live tooling).
• Blueprint Reading & GD&T: Interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) callouts to manufacture parts to exact specifications.
• Quality Inspection & Maintenance: Perform in-process dimensional checks using micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges while managing tool wear and routine machine maintenance.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes in a precision machine shop environment.
• Proficient in G-code editing at the machine control interface (Haas experience preferred).
• Demonstrated experience holding tight tolerances using precision handheld measuring instruments.
• Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and commitment to shop safety protocols.
