Job summary

Northstar Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ seeks a CNC Machinist for our 2nd shift. You will operate CNC and manual equipment, provide technical oversight, and support daily manufacturing activities in our aerospace machining cell.

Requires high school diploma and 5 years of CNC aerospace experience with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. This is a full-time, on-site role in our manufacturing department.

Position Title: CNC Machinist

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Location: Phoenix

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Direct Reports: None

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position is responsible for providing technical assistance and oversight to all CNC machinists. This position also must operate the manual equipment

This position is in Northstar’s Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Production Supervisor. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary, but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist teammates with technical issues
  • Perform precision machining operations on aerospace hardware
  • Provides technical oversight and assist with all setup activities on CNC equipment
  • Helps schedule resources in areas to ensure daily work is achieved
  • Maintain highly efficient work process using Lean principles to support cost reduction activity
  • Responsible for operating various CNC machines and equipment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

  • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing and seeing

  • Occasional sitting, writing and typing
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of product and/or parts
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent experience

Experience Required: 5 years’ experience with CNC aerospace machining
