Job summary

Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist to produce flight-critical aerospace parts per blueprints. The role emphasizes quality, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

The candidate will set up and operate CNC lathes, inspect parts for conformance, and follow standard work. A minimum of five years in aerospace manufacturing and experience with Fanuc/CNC controls are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; skilled trade certification preferred.
  • 5+ years aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in AS9100/ISO environment.
  • Proficient with Fanuc and CNC controls.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and problem solving.
  • GD&T knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC Lathe machines.
  • Inspect parts for conformance using bench gauging.
  • Follow Standard Work and process verification procedures.
  • Perform light preventative maintenance on CNC Lathe equipment.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and document actions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area per regulations.
  • Comply with safety rules and PPE requirements.
  • Identify and replace worn parts as needed.

Position Summary

A CNC Lathe Machinist will work according to blueprint specifications, selecting the appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials ensuring orders are completed in a timely manner with a quality first mindset. As a team member at Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc. the CNC Machinist will work to produce flight critical aerospace parts that meet customer specifications. Essential Functions
  • Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC Lathe Machines.
  • Inspect work completed on CNC Lathe Machines for conformance to specifications using bench gauging.
  • Strictly follow Standard Work in all aspects of work including CNC Lathe Machine setup and operation, process verification, product inspection, documentation, and material handling.
  • Perform light preventative maintenance tasks on CNC Lathe Machines to maintain machinery performance and prevent machine downtime.
  • Reports any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to supervisor, may provide input for action including discipline.
  • Regular verbal or written communication to internal stakeholders utilizing both electronic and analog systems.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production Control. Maintains positive, team relationship with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
  • Participate in the operation of and compliance with all safety, hazardous material handling, and disposal requirements in accordance with government regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with all internal, customer and government regulations.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e., shoes, eyewear, gloves, masks, shields, and coats) if needed.
  • Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations.
  • Complete testing and adjustment of parts, as needed.
  • Identify and replace parts, as necessary.
  • Other tasks as required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Education. Skilled Trade Certification, preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) or more years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in AS9100 and ISO environment.
  • Experience with Fanuc and/or CNC controls.
  • Experience using lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodology.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) or related software
  • Excellent organizational skills (verbal and written) with an attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Understanding and ability to work within an ERP system (Global Shop).
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, internally and externally.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to access all areas of the facility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The pace is rapid and dynamic, multi-task oriented with short notice/changing deadlines.
