Job summary

Caztek Precision in Minneapolis seeks an experienced machinist to program, set up, and run 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling and turning. You will design fixtures, operate CAM software (Mastercam), and document quality data to support precision parts.

The role requires strong problem-solving abilities, hands-on fabrication skills, and the ability to work independently in a first-shift shop environment with occasional training travel.

Qualifications

  • Trade school or associate’s degree in a technical field.
  • 5+ years of machine programming and setup experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of CAM and machining technologies.
  • Hands-on fabrication experience with the ability to stand and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Background check and citizenship verification may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills to meet production goals.
  • Program, set up, fixture design and run 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling and turning.
  • Utilize CAM software (Mastercam) to develop and verify programs.
  • Operate CMM and maintain quality control documentation.
  • Source tooling and materials; communicate manufacturing improvements to engineering.
  • Evaluate prototypes and designs for refinement through assembly and testing.
  • Travel to training classes as needed; interact with government contract work if applicable.

Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Competence with 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling and CNC turning (Haas and DMG Mori/Siemens Control preferred)
  • CAM programing, setup/fixture design, and run (Mastercam preferred)
  • CMM, inspection, quality control and related documentation
  • Continuously learn, improve, and pursue your passion for creating precision parts and assemblies and solving complex problems
  • Source necessary tooling and materials to complete jobs
  • Communicate manufacturing improvements and optimization to the engineering department
  • Evaluate prototypes and designs for refinement through assembly and testing
  • Directly contribute to the solutions provided to customers

  • Reports to Shop Lead
  • Weekly shop meetings to review project status

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • This position requires meeting work deadlines, tracking time and materials purchased to meet production and budget goals set by others. Communication with supervisors or engineers on the job is essential. It also requires a signed employment and confidentiality agreement along with a background check.
  • Ability to stand and work in a fabrication shop
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Trade school or associate’s degree in a technical field
  • Experience
  • Machine programming and setup: 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Working with and proficient knowledge of CAM
  • Knowledge of principles, and procedures relating to machining technologies
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Hands-on experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently
  • Travel to classes for additional training may be required.
  • Position is first shift. Occasionally a job may require additional hours to meet project deadlines.
  • This position may interact with government contract work that requires proof of citizenship. All offers of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check, which includes proof of citizenship or right to work.
