Job Objectives

The CNC Machinist is a vital member of our production team, responsible for setting up and operating our 3-5 axis CNC Mill equipment to produce intricate components with exceptionally tight tolerances. The primary objective is to manufacture parts correctly and efficiently, adhering to all engineering specifications and the rigorous quality standards of AS9100. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of machining processes, and a commitment to producing flawless results for our high-stakes clientele.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC and Wire EDM machines to fabricate complex, tight-tolerance parts from various metals.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
• Perform in-process and first-article inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, CMM) to ensure parts meet all quality standards.
• Conduct routine machine maintenance, including wire changes, filter replacement, and fluid checks to ensure optimal machine performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, making necessary adjustments to programs and machine settings.
• Maintain meticulous records of production, inspection data, and machine logs in compliance with AS9100 documentation requirements.
• Collaborate with the engineering and quality teams to optimize processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.

Skills and Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating Wire EDM machines.
• Proven ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings with an understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment, accustomed to tight tolerances.
• Proficient with precision measuring and inspection tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or be able to comply with ITAR requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating Fadal or Hurco CNC Mills.
• Proficiency with CAM programming software.
• Previous experience in an AS9100 certified aerospace, defense, or medical machine shop.
• Familiarity with other CNC machining processes is a plus.
• Formal machining trade school or apprenticeship completion.
