Job summary

Shape Technologies Group is seeking a Machinist to set up and operate CNC and conventional machines to manufacture precision parts. You will review drawings, determine machining requirements, and ensure safety and quality throughout the process.

Candidates should have GED or HS diploma and experience reading blueprints; CNC/manufacturing background preferred. The role offers a 4-day work week (10-hour shifts) and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience with CNC or manual machining preferred.
  • Ability to set up and operate conventional and CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).

Job Summary:

The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating conventional and CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision metal and non-metal components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This position plays a critical role in producing high-quality parts while maintaining safety, efficiency, and accuracy throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and part specifications.
  • Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines to manufacture parts according to specifications.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for production runs.
  • Adjust machine controls, speeds, feeds, and cutting depths to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct test runs and troubleshoot machining issues to ensure proper machine performance.
  • Replace and install machine components and verify proper operation following maintenance or repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, supervisors, and production personnel to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve processes.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Follow all quality standards related to our Quality Management System (QMS), ISO requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education/Training:
  • GED or High School diploma
  • Previous CNC machining, manual machining, manufacturing, technical training, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
