Job summary

Shape Technologies Group is seeking a Machinist to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts from engineering drawings. You will select tooling, adjust speeds and feeds, and verify parts meet specifications.

The role offers a $1,500 sign-on bonus, a 4-day work week with 10-hour shifts, and a comprehensive benefits package within a climate-controlled manufacturing facility. You will collaborate with engineers and production staff to maintain safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • GED or High School diploma.
  • Experience with CNC machining and/or manual machining preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).

Responsibilities

  • Review blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
  • Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines to manufacture parts according to specifications.
  • Select and install tooling, fixtures, and materials for production runs.
  • Adjust speeds, feeds, and cutting depths to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision instruments to verify conformance.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve processes.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Follow ISO/QMS standards and safety procedures.

Job Summary:

The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating conventional and CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision metal and non-metal components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This position plays a critical role in producing high-quality parts while maintaining safety, efficiency, and accuracy throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and part specifications.
  • Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines to manufacture parts according to specifications.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for production runs.
  • Adjust machine controls, speeds, feeds, and cutting depths to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct test runs and troubleshoot machining issues to ensure proper machine performance.
  • Replace and install machine components and verify proper operation following maintenance or repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, supervisors, and production personnel to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve processes.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Follow all quality standards related to our Quality Management System (QMS), ISO requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/Training:

  • GED or High School diploma
  • Previous CNC machining, manual machining, manufacturing, technical training, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
