Job summary

laborup is seeking skilled CNC Machinists to work in a high-mix, low-volume environment. You will operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centers and lathes, run prototypes, and manage setups through first article. The role spans across energy, automotive, defense, and heavy industrial components with opportunities for overtime.

Ideal candidates read blueprints, measure with micrometers and calipers, and maintain high attendance. Relocation support is available across the SE region.

Qualifications

• CNC machining experience on milling machines or lathes.

Responsibilities

• Perform own setups, fixturing, tooling and offsets.
• Read drawings and verify tolerances.
• Read and verify programs at the control (G-code).
• Machine prototypes and one-off, low-volume parts from prints.
• Inspect first articles before releasing the run.
• Conduct in-process checks and measure dimensions.
• Select, install and replace cutting tools for each job.
• Troubleshoot finish, size, and tool-life issues at the machine.

Overview

We’re hiring CNC Machinists for our precision machining and prototyping company.

You’ll machine precision components used across energy, automotive, defense, and heavy industrial applications. The parts we produce go into systems ranging from jet turbines to steel mill infrastructure, so the work is varied, technical, and often mission-critical.

This is a high-mix, low-volume environment built around short runs, new prints, prototypes, and custom fabrication, not standing at one machine running the same part every day. You’ll have the opportunity to run jobs from setup through first article and work across 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centers, conventional lathes and those with live tooling.

Compensation

• $26 - $35 / hr (depending on experience)
• Shift differential on 2nd
• With optional overtime, make over $80k / yr

• Setups: Perform your own setups, including fixturing, tooling, and offsets.
