Job summary

laborup in Montgomery, Alabama, is hiring CNC Machinists for our precision machining and prototyping company. You will machine precision components used in energy, automotive, defense, and heavy industrial applications, from jet turbines to steel mill infrastructure.

This is a high-mix, low-volume environment with short runs, new prints, prototypes, and custom fabrication. You’ll run jobs from setup through first article and work on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and live-tooling lathes.

Qualifications

• Measure with micrometers, calipers, indicators.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Own the job from setup to first article.
• Read blueprints and verify tolerances.
• Read programs at the machine to verify tooling and moves.
• Prototype and first article inspection on new prints.
• In-process dimensional checks with micrometers/calipers/indicators.
• Tooling selection and replacement for each job.
• Troubleshoot finish, size, and tool-life issues at the machine.

Overview

We’re hiring CNC Machinists for our precision machining and prototyping company.

You’ll machine precision components used across energy, automotive, defense, and heavy industrial applications. The parts we produce go into systems ranging from jet turbines to steel mill infrastructure, so the work is varied, technical, and often mission-critical.

This is a high-mix, low-volume environment built around short runs, new prints, prototypes, and custom fabrication, not standing at one machine running the same part every day. You’ll have the opportunity to run jobs from setup through first article and work across 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centers, conventional lathes and those with live tooling.

Compensation

• $26 - $35 / hr (depending on experience)
• Shift differential on 2nd
• With optional overtime, make over $80k / yr

Relocation

• Relocation assistance available across Alabama and the SE

• Setups: Perform your own setups, including fixturing, tooling, and offsets.

• Blueprints: Read drawings and hold the tolerances they call out.
• G-Code: Read programs at the control to verify tooling and moves.
• Prototypes: Machine one-off and low-volume parts from new prints.
• First Articles: Inspect first parts before releasing the run.
• In-Process Checks: Measure dimensions with micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
• Tooling: Select, install, and replace cutting tools for each job.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose finish, size, and tool-life problems at the machine.
