Job summary

Accelera is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team in a role that covers the entire process from setup to final part inspection.

You will program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes, select tooling, and verify parts with precision metrology. A strong background in blueprints and G-code is required, along with a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical schooling a plus.
• Minimum five years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience with manual mills.
• Ability to read blueprints and machine specifications.
• Proficient in G-code and conversational programming.
• Strong problem-solving and math skills.
• Ability to work with diverse materials: stainless steel, aluminum, plastics.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC milling and turning equipment.
• Create and adjust machine code using CAM software, G-code, and conversational programming.
• Operate conventional machining tools as needed to support production.
• Use grinders, saws, and drill presses for fabrication tasks.
• Determine cutting parameters and select tooling for jobs.

Core Responsibilities:

• Manage the setup, programming, and operation of CNC milling and turning machinery to create high-precision parts.
• Create and adjust machine code by utilizing CAM software, G-code, and conversational programming methods.
• Support our production workflow by operating conventional machining tools as required.
• Utilize various shop tools such as grinders, saws, and drill presses to assist in fabrication tasks.
• Determine optimal machining parameters, such as feed rates, cutting speeds, and coolant application, while selecting the right tooling for the job.
• Analyze technical specifications and engineering blueprints to ensure all manufactured components align with design standards.
• Ensure high-quality output by utilizing inspection tools like calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators for precise measurement.
• Help maintain consistent product quality by holding tight tolerances throughout the machining process.
• Collaborate closely with production and engineering staff to assist in prototype creation and drive ongoing process enhancements.
• Help ensure a productive and secure work environment by performing regular equipment upkeep and keeping the shop floor tidy.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of high school or a GED, with additional vocational or technical schooling being a plus.
• At least five years of professional experience in CNC machining.
• Previous experience working with manual mills.
• Proven ability to machine diverse materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, and various engineering plastics.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage tasks and work effectively without constant oversight.
• Competence in conversational programming alongside a solid grasp of G-code.
• Capability to develop, modify, and resolve issues with CNC programs directly at the machine control interface.
• Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and technical aptitude.
• Capacity to interpret blueprints and adhere to detailed written instructions.
