Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc. in Enfield, CT seeks a CNC Machinist to produce aerospace parts from blueprints. Set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC machines, select fixtures and tools, and ensure quality-first output in a fast-paced environment.

Three+ years in aerospace manufacturing with Fanuc CNC controls, GD&T knowledge, Lean methods, and Global Shop ERP preferred. Strong organization and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; trade certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in AS9100 and ISO environments.
  • Experience with Fanuc and/or CNC controls.
  • Experience using lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodology.
  • GD&T knowledge a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Experience with ERP systems (Global Shop).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, multi-task, and work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC machines.
  • Inspect work for conformance to specifications using gauging.
  • Follow standard work for setup, operation, verification, and documentation.
  • Perform light preventive maintenance on CNC machines.
  • Report safety violations and equipment issues to supervisor.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders using electronic and analog systems.
  • Maintain a clean work area in compliance with regulations.
  • Use PPE as required.
  • Identify and replace parts as necessary.

Position Summary:

A CNC Machinist will work according to blueprint specifications, selecting the appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials ensuring orders are completed in a timely manner with a quality first mindset. As a team member at Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc. the CNC Machinist will work to produce flight critical aerospace parts that meet customer specifications. Essential Functions:

  • Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC Machines.
  • Inspect work completed on CNC Machines for conformance to specifications using bench gauging.
  • Strictly follow Standard Work in all aspects of work including CNC Machine setup and operation, process verification, product inspection, documentation, and material handling.
  • Perform light preventative maintenance tasks on CNC Machines to maintain machinery performance and prevent machine downtime.
  • Reports any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to supervisor, may provide input for action including discipline.
  • Regular verbal or written communication to internal stakeholders utilizing both electronic and analog systems.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production Control. Maintains positive, team relationship with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
  • Participate in the operation of and compliance with all safety, hazardous material handling, and disposal requirements in accordance with government regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with all internal, customer and government regulations.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e., shoes, eyewear, gloves, masks, shields, and coats) if needed.
  • Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations.
  • Complete testing and adjustment of parts, as needed.
  • Identify and replace parts, as necessary.
  • Other tasks as required.
Requirements
Experience, Education and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Education. Skilled Trade Certification, preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) or more years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in AS9100 and ISO environment.
  • Experience with Fanuc and/or CNC controls.
  • Experience using lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodology.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) or related software
  • Excellent organizational skills (verbal and written) with an attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Understanding and ability to work within an ERP system (Global Shop).
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, internally and externally.

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The pace is rapid and dynamic, multi-task oriented with short notice/changing deadlines.
