Durango Machining Innovations in Durango, Colorado, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. You will set up, operate, and maintain CNC mills and lathes, reading blueprints and inspection notes to produce high‑quality parts to spec.

You will select tooling, monitor operations, perform in‑process inspections, and collaborate with teammates to troubleshoot and optimize processes while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

DMI is a locally owned and operated machine shop serving regional and international customers. We specialize in high-tolerance precision machining and production manufacturing. Our team supports a wide range of projects, including individual parts, assemblies, and jobs requiring additional finishing services such as plating, anodizing, powder coating, laser engraving, sheet metal, and plastic molding.

Salary

$24.00-$40.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Job Summary:

As a CNC Machinist, you'll be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-quality parts to customer specifications. You'll work from technical drawings and follow strict quality standards to ensure precision and consistency.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Select and install proper tooling and fixtures.
• Monitor machining operations and make adjustments as needed.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
• Maintain machine cleanliness and follow safety protocols.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimize machining processes.
• Document work performed and maintain accurate records.
• Report to shop manager with updates and issues.
• Help others to keep machines running and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
• 2+ years of CNC machining experience (or equivalent training).
• Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments.
• Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Experience with Multiaxis Machines
• Knowledge of software like Fusion, Excel, Calypso

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks in an industrial environment.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing setting with noise and heat exposure.
