Job summary

Fillauer Companies, Inc. in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

You will determine dimensions from blueprints, measure for First Article approvals, and select tools and fixtures to ensure precision and repeatability in a modern shop. We value craftsmanship and safety, with growth opportunities in a forward-looking manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of CNC Machinist experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and communicate with individuals or groups.
• Strong problem solving and instruction communication skills.
• Experience in a medium to large plant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines and machining centers.
• Fabricate both metallic and nonmetallic parts according to blueprints and drawings.
• Determine dimensions/tolerances and setup requirements from specifications or samples.
• Measure and verify First Article approvals and in-process inspections.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, tools, and materials; adjust machining factors as needed.

Could This Be For You?

We are looking for a CNC Machinist for our Chattanooga, TN facility. This individual will setup and operate conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate both metallic and nonmetallic parts.

Your Impact

• Determine dimensions/tolerances of finished parts and setup requirements based on blueprints, sketch drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts.
• Measure dimensions and reference points for First Article approvals and In-process inspection.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.).
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors (speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut).
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunction or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusting controls or media as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience as CNC Machinist.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and the ability to effectively communicate with individuals or groups.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions and strong problem solving capabilities.
• Prefer experience in a medium to large plant.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
