Job description

At PCC Structurals - Carson City, our CNC Machinists turn complex requirements into precision aerospace components. We're looking for an experienced machinist who can independently complete full setups on both CNC lathes and mills - not someone limited to loading parts and pressing cycle start.

This is an opportunity for someone who understands the complete machining process, takes ownership of quality, and wants to grow into a lead or supervisory role over time.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Independently complete full setups and operate CNC lathes and milling machines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, engineering requirements, and GD&T.
  • Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters.
  • Load and align materials and workpieces to produce parts within required tolerances.
  • Run sample parts, verify results, and make necessary adjustments before continuing production.
  • Inspect finished work using micrometers, calipers, gauges, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Identify machining, tooling, material, or quality concerns and help determine practical corrections.
  • Document inspection results, production information, and machine adjustments accurately.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance, tool changes, lubrication, and equipment cleaning.
  • Maintain an organized, safe work area and follow all PPE and plant safety requirements.
  • Use production and quality systems to track work orders and part history.
  • Support production goals, continuous improvement activities, and the development of consistent machining practices.
  • Have full setup experience on both CNC lathes and mills.
  • Understand the machining process beyond basic machine operation.
  • Can work independently through setup, first-piece verification, adjustment, and production.
  • Take pride in producing accurate work and catching problems before they affect additional parts.
  • Are comfortable reading blueprints, process sheets, and GD&T.
  • Approach machine or tooling problems calmly and methodically.
  • Communicate clearly when you identify an equipment, material, or quality concern.
  • Keep your tools, documentation, and work area organized.
  • Want to continue developing your technical and leadership skills.
  • Are interested in eventually growing into a lead or supervisory position.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Every setup decision affects safety, quality, production flow, and customer confidence. Your machining knowledge will help PCC Structurals - Carson City produce precision components that meet demanding aerospace requirements.

We're also looking ahead. The right person will have the opportunity to build trust, expand their knowledge of our processes, support other machinists, and prepare for future leadership responsibilities.

SCHEDULE
