Job summary

Staffmark Group is seeking a CNC Machinist in Birmingham, AL. This role offers a pay rate of $32 per hour on the night shift, where your precision work will be highly valued. You'll set up and operate CNC machines to produce high-quality medical device components.

CNC Machinist

Location: Birmingham, AL
Pay Rate: $32.00 per hour
Night Shift: Monday-Wednesday, 6 PM‑6:30 AM & Thursday 6 PM‑2:30 AM

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational or Technical Degree in CNC Machining preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of CNC machining experience combined with technical training, or 4+ years of CNC machining experience.
  • Proven CNC machine setup and operation experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming, G‑Code, M‑Code, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tolerances, and quality control standards.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, medical device, aerospace, or precision machining environment is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Job Duties
  • Set up, operate, and adjust CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to produce high‑precision medical device components.
  • Manufacture parts to exact specifications while maintaining tight tolerances and exceptional quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Utilize G‑Code and M‑Code knowledge to troubleshoot machining programs and optimize production performance.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Identify and document non‑conforming materials or parts and support corrective actions.
  • Follow ISO standards, Lean Manufacturing principles, and established safety procedures.
  • Ensure inspection and measurement equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and part traceability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and process optimization.
