Job description

This is a 1st shift role: M-F, 6am-2:30pm

The CNC Machinist sets up and operates CNC and manual equipment following standard machining methods and procedures; produces parts to production and quality standards; documents machining and general machining processes in the form of standard operating procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Program, set up and operate all CNC lathe / VMC machining centers, manual machines (lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines etc.) and measuring equipment to produce quality parts within deadlines.
  2. Convert designs and drawings into code programming language for CNC equipment. Validate programs to established specifications.
  3. Determine dimensions and tolerances of pieces to be machined, sequence of operations and machines needed by studying specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts or descriptions of parts.
  4. Inspect parts, tooling, and material to specifications.
  5. Maintain area, equipment, and tooling in safe, clean and satisfactory operating condition.
  6. Monitor work to ensure that machines are functioning properly.
  7. Work from draft drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts as well as for tooling or prototype equipment.
  8. Identify production standards for set-up and machine times.

EXPERIENCE

  1. Minimum of 5 years machining experience including ability to set up / operate preferred. Strong knowledge of machining, machining practices, tooling, drafting, CNC machines, controls, programming, measuring equipment and techniques.
  2. Ability to program CNC lathes and VMC machines.
  3. Ability to troubleshoot CNC operating/programming issues.
  4. Demonstrated verbal and written communication as well as mid-level math skills.
  5. Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  6. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  7. Multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  8. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  9. AA degree in Machining / Mechanical Technology, equivalent trade school / military training, or comparable related experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures and work space restrictions.

The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.

Employees will be required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective smock, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields. Contact lenses may not be allowed in some areas.

The associate must also be willing and able to travel by all forms of transportation.

Pay Range
The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 38,200.00 - 71,000.00
