Job summary

Precise Tool & Manufacturing Inc. is seeking a CNC Machining Instructor in Rochester, NY to educate and mentor students through a 14‑week PCMI program and live shop floor training. The role covers classroom instruction, hands‑on machine work, safety enforcement, and graduate placement support.

The program aims to develop technical knowledge for precision manufacturing, including shop math, blueprint reading, GD&T, and basic GD&T and tooling safety.

Qualifications

  • Extensive understanding of blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper machining practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper work setups.
  • Demonstrate safe working habits.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on instruction for students operating machines.
  • Order necessary materials for student projects.
  • Manage budget for books, materials and expenses.
  • Set up students with access to ToolingU and other software.
  • Maintain tooling inventory and machine safety.
  • Grade student performance and assess machining skills.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Mentor graduates as they transition to the shop floor.

Precise CNC Machining Institute (PCMI) is a 14-week, paid training program facilitated by Precise Tool & Manufacturing Inc. The program is designed to prepare individuals for careers in precision manufacturing by providing Students with full-time, hands-on training focused on developing the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in a modern manufacturing environment. The program curriculum includes shop math, blueprint reading, introductory GD&T, machining on mills and lathes, and manufacturing safety fundamentals.

We are seeking a PCMI Instructor to educate, train, and mentor students throughout the program by delivering classroom instruction, providing hands-on machine training, reinforcing safety compliance standards, and preparing students for successful careers on the manufacturing floor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides hands on instruction for students operating machines.
  • Orders necessary raw materials for students to complete sample projects.
  • Manages budget for books, raw materials and any other course related expenses.
  • Sets students up with access to ToolingU, online software program.
  • Maintains inventory of tooling/tools.
  • Grades students’ performance on written tests and ability on machines.
  • Communicates with students concerning proper behavior and expectations.
  • Ensures students understand and follow all manufacturing safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and safety compliance requirements expected on a production floor.
  • Provides ongoing support and mentorship to program graduates as they transition to the shop floor, helping reinforce skills, safety practices, and overall job success following completion of the 14-week program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Extensive understanding of blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper machining practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper work setups.
  • Demonstrate safe working habits.
  • Familiar with algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
  • Knowledge of G and M code programming.
  • Knowledge of Mazatrol programming.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 20 years machining experience
  • Education experience preferred

According to the New York Pay Transparency law, pay range for this job is $32.00 - $38.00 / hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
