Qualifications

• Experience operating overhead crane / forklift preferred.
• Proficient with hand tools including grinders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Positions work pieces for processing.
• Operates multiple machines to process material by cutting, burning, sawing, blasting, shearing, punching, grinding, bending, or pressing.
• Uses gauges and rulers for measurement.
• Reviews blueprints and work orders to plan processing.
• Installs and aligns dies, blades or fixtures in machines.
• Adjusts controls for speed, depth, and feed rates; troubleshoots issues.
• Performs quality inspections on finished product; possibly In Process Quality Inspections.
• Coordinates material handling and operation of overhead crane.
• Completes work order paperwork/documentation.

CNC Machine Trainee - 2nd Shift

Metals USA has an opening for a CNC Machine Trainee in the Tulsa, OK facility. The CNC Machine Trainee performs advanced production activities requiring a demonstrated high level of skill and proficiency in material handling, production processes and multiple machine operation acquired through extended experience and training.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Positions work pieces for processing
• Operates a combination of different machines to process work by cutting, burning, sawing, blasting, shearing, punching, grinding, bending, or pressing
• Uses gauges, calipers, squares, or rulers for measurement
• Determines processing specifications such as materials, cutting tools, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences by reviewing blueprints, work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications
• Installs and aligns specified punches, cutting blades or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, or hand tools
• Adjusts controls to set cutting speed, depth and feed rates; and diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments
• Performs quality control inspections on finished product; for ISO-certified locations, performs In Process Quality Inspections
• Coordinates and executes material handling of all inventories to be processed including operation of overhead crane
• Performs limited preventative maintenance, such as lubrication, cleaning and changing of parts
• May train less experienced workers and perform as lead in absence of group leader
• May mark identification on material/work pieces before processing
• May mark material after processing; store material for additional processing and/or shipping
• Restocks material
• Completes work order paperwork/documentation

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Advanced reading and writing comprehension in English (to read work order instructions, safety, and policy manuals)
• Advanced measuring skills to read English & Metric systems and a tape measure, caliper, gauges, or micrometer
• Must have mechanical aptitude and arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
• Experience operating an overhead crane / forklift operator
• Must be proficient in the use of hand tools including grinder
• Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
• Computer Literacy; Microsoft Products, CAD Programming and ERP
• Must be organized with attention to detail
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Physical Demands:

Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)

• Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
• Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance

Other Physical Requirements:

• Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Steel-toed boots or metatarsal boots
• Hard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while in the warehouse
