Job summary

Morris Group, Inc. is seeking a CNC Machine Tool Applications Engineer to design, own, and implement custom manufacturing solutions for customers in the CNC arena. You will work with the sales team to develop demonstrations, provide training, and support technical needs, with a focus on automation and robotics.

The role requires hands-on machining experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to travel regionally to support customers and the internal team.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on machining background with 5+ years in process development and programming CNC machines.
  • Preferred working knowledge of MasterCam and/or Esprit software.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
  • Knowledge of tooling and ancillary machining equipment essential.
  • Frequent travel throughout the regional territory; some overnight travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Part programming of CNC machine tools, process development, and customer training.
  • Conduct pre-sale activities including customer visits, opportunity evaluation, machine assessment and recommendations.
  • Draft accurate cost estimates, write engineering reports, and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Program and set up CNC lathes, vertical or horizontal mills with automation and robotics.
  • Develop and implement customer demonstrations and training for CNC machining centers, lathes, and robots.
  • Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of product lines represented by the company.

Summary of Responsibility:

The team is looking for an upbeat and passionate CNC Machine Tool Applications Engineer to support our customers and internal sales team. Working alongside the sales team, this role will take an innovative, hands-on approach to CNC manufacturing, while designing, owning, and implementing custom manufacturing solutions for our customers. This role will have direct responsibility for developing solutions, training, and supporting our team and our customers’ technical needs in the CNC arena. With a strong emphasis on automated solutions, robotics, and training, you will define and build the organizational support needed to grow new and existing revenue streams.

What You Will Contribute:
  • Part programming of CNC Machine Tools, process development, and customer training.
  • Conducting pre-sale activities and reviews including customer visits, evaluation of opportunities, machine assessment and recommendations, and part processing recommendations
  • Drafting accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Programming and setting up CNC lathes, CNC vertical or horizontal mills with automation and robotics.
  • Developing/implementing customer demonstrations and training users in the safe set up and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes and robots.
  • Possessing and maintaining an in-depth technical knowledge of product lines represented by the company.

Qualifications & Competencies:
  • Strong hands‑on machining background with at least 5 years of demonstrated ability in process development and programming of CNC machines.
  • Confirmed working knowledge of MasterCam and/or Esprit software is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and effective interpersonal skills required.
  • Tooling and ancillary machining equipment knowledge is a must.
  • Frequent travel throughout our regional territory; some overnight travel required.
