Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of CNC programming, setup, or machining experience.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and ability to write/adjust CNC programs.
  • Experience with CNC mills and lathes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T requirements.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers).
  • Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds.

Responsibilities

  • Write, review, and modify CNC programs for mill and lathe operations from drawings and blueprints.
  • Set up machines, tooling, fixtures, and offsets for precision production.
  • Develop and revise setup documentation and process updates.
  • Verify programs, inspect first-article parts, ensure dimensional quality.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Programmer (Mill/Lathe) for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Tucson, AZ. This role is ideal for a skilled CNC professional who can program, set up, troubleshoot, and optimize machining processes for precision components in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Write, review, and modify CNC programs for mill and lathe operations using drawings, blueprints, and other visual documentation.
  • Set up CNC machines safely and efficiently to meet customer specifications, production schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Develop and revise setup documentation, including tooling requirements, tool offsets, fixture needs, and process updates.
  • Verify programs, inspect first-article parts, and ensure machined components meet required dimensional and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, setup, and program issues while making appropriate adjustments to maintain production efficiency.
  • Assist CNC operators with loading, unloading, inspection documentation, and process improvements when needed.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay: $25 to $30 per hour.
  • Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Program CNC mill and lathe machines from blueprints, drawings, and visual documents.
  • Set up machines, tooling, fixtures, offsets, and process documentation for precision production.
  • Inspect parts, support first-article verification, and make program or tooling adjustments as needed.
  • Develop efficient machining processes for new components and production improvements.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant CNC programming, setup, or machining experience.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and ability to write and adjust CNC programs.
  • Experience with CNC mills and lathes in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T requirements.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and depth micrometers.
  • Understanding of cutting tools such as drills, reamers, boring bars, and related tooling practices.
  • Ability to determine speeds and feeds for different materials.
  • Experience making efficient setups and documenting setup procedures.
  • Ability to understand MIL-SPEC requirements where applicable.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality system standards.
  • Computer literacy and ability to work with machine controls and programming software.
  • Proficient machine shop math skills, including the ability to use trigonometry for setup and problem-solving.
  • Strong troubleshooting, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with shop and management personnel.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, open and close machine doors, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to listen for machine or tooling issues and must be non-allergic to cutting fluids.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Gibbs software.
  • Experience designing or sketching fixture requirements for machined components.
  • Prior experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
