Job summary

Alamo Structural Steel is seeking a Machine Operator to set up and run various production machines based on blueprints and diagrams. You will read work orders, adjust settings, and ensure quality and safety in daily operations.

The role includes night and weekend shifts with differential pay. Minimum starting salary ranges from $20.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience, with standard full-time hours.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Six months experience operating production machinery preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect materials before, during, and after processing for quality control.
  • Read and interpret work orders and cut-sheets.
  • Ensure machines operate safely and properly.
  • Perform basic maintenance on machines.
  • Prepare materials and mount coil in the hub.
  • Operate hoists and check periodic maintenance.
  • Diagnose faults and address issues affecting machines.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with OSHA policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating various machines such as drill lines, anglematic, brake presses, auerosheers, burn tables, duplicators, paranas, and transfer tables. You must read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to carefully set up, select, position, secure, and operate production machinery under established procedures and guidelines. The Machine Operator will accurately and timely adjust machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications.

Minimum Starting Salary: $20.00 to $28.00 per hour - depending on experience.

Nights: Monday - Thursday 3:00pm to 1:30am - Plus a $2.00 shift differential
Weekends: Friday - Sunday 5:00am-5:30pm - you work 36hrs, get paid for 40hrs as long as you work the full scheduled shift. Plus a $3.00 shift differential for every hour associated with the Weekend Shift.

Essential Functions
  • Rigorously inspect materials before, during, and after processing to ensure quality control of the finished product
  • Read and interpret written instructions from manufacturing work orders and cut-sheets
  • Ensure machines are operating properly and safely
  • Provides basic maintenance to the machine(s) to properly operate
  • Prepare materials to be processed and mounted coil in the hub
  • Operate hoists and check periodically to plan preventative maintenance assigned to the truck production functions
  • Runs full diagnosis and treatment of faults and/or situations that affect the functioning of the designated machine
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Comply with Company and OSHA policies
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge and ability to distinguish different types of materials.
  • Knowledge of metal and basic shop fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, engineering specifications, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Ability to operate forklift, overhead crane, and tractor-trailer
  • Ability to withstand pressure and adapt to changes
  • Ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Six months experience operating various types of production machinery is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent prolonged standing, be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual agility, coordination, and stamina.
