Position Overview

As a CNC Operator/Set-Up at Q LLC, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing process by operating and setting up CNC machines to produce high-quality firearm components. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Operation: Operate CNC machines to perform various functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, and boring.
  • Quality Assurance: Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts meet quality requirements and company standards.
  • Process Improvement: Communicate recommendations to modify processes for improved productivity and quality.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to organizational standards and legal regulations.
  • Troubleshooting: Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as necessary.
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements.
  • Surface Finishing: Grind, file, or sand surfaces of metal items using various hand tools, power tools, and machines.
  • Material Handling: Move materials and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Tool Maintenance: Identify and replace broken or worn tools, and make necessary tool offsets.
  • Setup: Perform setups of previously proven jobs with minimal instruction.
  • Defect Removal: Examine surfaces for defects, remove imperfections, and smooth uneven surfaces.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or certification in a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in operating and troubleshooting CNC machines.
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of G-code and M-code programming, and the ability to read blueprints with GD&T capabilities.
  • Precision Measuring: Proficient in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Software Skills: SolidWorks/CAMWorks experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment and maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Work Ethic: Self-motivated, adaptable to change, and possesses a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
