The CNC Machine Operator (Punch Brake) isresponsible for operating CNC machinery to produce precision parts in accordance with production schedules and quality standards. This role supports timely order fulfillment and ensures the consistent quality of our products. Upholding and exemplifying the Point Eight Power brand, mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives is essential to the success of this position and the organization.
Essential Accountabilities
- Support our reputation as a leading manufacturer by fabricating high-quality products that exceed client expectations through precise operation of the Punch Brake machine.
- Retrieve the parts list and relevant CNC programs to produce bent parts according to job specifications.
- Locate and move raw sheet metal materials as required by each job’s parts list.
- Safely load materials onto the Punch Brake machine and secure them using clamps, fingers, or other fixtures.
- Select and install the correct tooling, dies, and attachments based on material type and job requirements to ensure accurate bending and optimal machine performance.
- Collaborate with other CNC Machine Operators to input commands or adjust machine settings when necessary.
- Monitor machine operation and control panel displays to ensure smooth and accurate bending processes.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers and protractors to verify that finished parts meet quality and dimensional standards.
- Organize and stage completed parts for the next phase of fabrication.
- Perform routine maintenance on the Punch Brake machine, including sharpening or replacing tools to maintain optimal function.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work area at all times.
- Complete side tasks during machine cycle times as required to support workflow.
- Train under 1st Class CNC Machine Operators to develop skills and gain proficiency in operating the Punch Brake and related equipment.

Qualifications
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Forklift certification (Preferred)
Experience:
- 2+ years in sheet metal fabrication or as a CNC operator (Required)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Self-Motivation & Integrity: Able to work independently, identify and solve problems, and follow guidelines and procedures with integrity.
- Engineering & Technology: Understanding of engineering principles and technology applied to design and manufacturing processes.
- Production & Quality: Knowledge of raw materials, production methods, quality control, and cost efficiency in manufacturing.
- Design: Familiarity with design techniques, blueprints, technical drawings, and models for precise production.
- Mechanical Skills: Experience with machines and tools such as Trump, Accupress, Allen wrenches, grinders, break press, punch press, forklift, crane, shears, and calipers, including their use, maintenance, and repair.
- Technical Aptitude: Strong mechanical skills supporting CNC sheet metal equipment, ability to interpret 3D parts from cut sheets, solid math skills, and basic computer proficiency.
- Computer & Software: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office and accounting software like AS 400.
- Communication: Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals; write routine reports; and communicate effectively with customers and team members.
- Math: Intermediate math skills for calculating figures, proportions, and areas.
- Physical Abilities:
- Arm-Hand Steadiness: Ability to keep hands steady during tasks.
- Visualization: Ability to mentally picture how parts fit or move.
- Manual Dexterity: Skill in quickly and accurately handling or assembling parts.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Physical Requirement: Demanding. Must have ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Employee must be at to sit, climb or balance, hear, use hands, taste/smell, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, talk, and reach with hands and arms.
Working Conditions: Conditions vary per work site: can be high heat, high humidity, exposure to electrical shock and mechanical parts, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals with fumes and/or airborne particles.
Overtime: As needed.
Hours: Monday to Thursday 6am to 6pm Friday 6am to 4:45pm, Saturday 6am to 12pm.
