What you will do

Our team at the Grantley Plant designs, develops, manufactures, ships, installs, and maintains industrial HVAC equipment for Navy vessels of all sizes. This role involves operating a CNC controlled horizontal machining center with a rotary table and 14 feet of travel. The operation includes handling a machine equipped with a 100-position automatic tool change system, PC-based tool management/preset system, part probe, broken tool detection, adaptive control, horsepower monitor, and is DNC linked.

Location and Shift

• Grantley Plant in York, PA
• 1st Shift and/or 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday

Pay

• Entry level Machine Operators start at $27.31 per hour.
• CNC Machine Operators start at $29.49 - $30.12 per hour.
• Qualified "Journeyman" starts at $31.95 per hour.

Union: This is a bargaining unit (union) position.

How you will do it

1. Use tool preset machine, precision measuring instruments, hand and power tools, deburr tools, and appropriate material handling equipment.
2. Work from drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape programs, instructions, or visual display units.
3. Perform fixture change-overs, load and unload production parts, conduct on-line piece parts inspection, and manually input data to ensure specified finishes and tolerances.
4. Maintain tooling and backup tooling as necessary.
5. Monitor control messages and take appropriate corrective actions.
6. Perform utility functions to maintain the process.
7. Perform housekeeping and deburr internal to machining operations.
8. Fill out PM checklists and assist in machine preventive maintenance.
9. Use all types of precision measuring instruments, including ID and OD micrometers up to 130 inches, calipers up to 130 inches, parallels up to 48 inches, depth gauges, height gauges, and plug and ring gauges.

Qualifications

Required

• Ability to read shop prints, mathematics, handbook formulas, and process sheets.
• Knowledge of CNC controlled machines and shop practices equivalent to 1-2 years of trades training.
• Judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions within prescribed quality and tolerance limits.
• Ability to perform moderate physical effort, working continuously with light or average weight materials.
• U.S. citizen.

Preferred

• Experience with setup and operation of CNC machines, preferably Horizontal Boring Mills, SNK, and Mori Seiki.
