Job description

Job Summary:

This role includes the duties of the following position: CNC Machine Operator. Operates computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines such as, but not limited to; milling machines, lathes, turning centers and horizontal mills used for the construction of aircraft interior structural and non structural parts, such as floor fittings, aluminum trims, counter tops and other various aluminum, stainless steel and phenolic parts used in aircraft interiors using engineering drawings, company and customer specifications. Levels 1, 2, 3 & Lead.



Summary of Duties:

Adheres to company and customer specifications, work instructions, engineering prints and work orders.

Documents the materials and processes used in the process to maintain traceability of product.

Operates CNC machine in a safe manner, including:

Loads programs into CNC machine and execute program cutting of the material.

Cuts raw stock to approximate size necessary for part being machined.

Secures and fixture raw stock of material into machine.

Squares material prior to running program if necessary.

Monitors the operating of the machine to ensure proper program performance.

Deburs completed machine parts as time allows.

Provides feedback to supervisor and programmer as to the performance of the program and tooling used for cutting the material.

Verifies the accuracy of the parts using calipers, micrometers and other metrology equipment as a periphery inspection and report any suspect parts immediately to supervisor.

Ensures machine is in proper working order and immediately report any issues or suspect of issues to supervisor.

Ensures machine and area around machine is kept clean and neat as practical and mandatory prior to ending of shift.

Properly maintains coolant as necessary, including removal of containments, proper dilution ratio and cleaning and recharging machine of coolant when necessary or when requested by supervisor.

Level 2 Qualification:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience: 4-5 years of experience.
Computer Skills:
Understands and experience in the basic operation of CNC machine and the knowledge of and use with G and M code
Description: Mid-level position within field.

Other Skills:
Requires some experience within discipline and solid working knowledge of subject matter
Handles moderately complex issues, escalates more complex issues to higher level staff
Performs work under general supervision with little latitude for independent judgment
The ability to read and write English at a comprehensive level is necessary for successful job performance.
Good hand/eye coordination a must.
Requires sensitivity to safety regulations and requirements.
Must be able to self-inspect work and correct discrepancies in a timely manner.
Must have experience/knowledge to operate machinery & various pneumatic/hand tools.
Must meet or exceed current training requirements.
Understand how to utilize work orders.
Ability to read engineering blue prints.
Previous experience in Aerospace Manufacturing.

Additional Preferred Skills: (not required)
Ability to provide peer review and oversight to junior CNC Machine Operators as needed.
