Job summary

Advanced Structural Technologies (AST) in Oxnard, California, is seeking entry-level CNC machine operators to run CNC lathes in a fast-paced production environment. You will start and monitor machines, load materials, inspect parts, and ensure safe, efficient operation through hands-on training and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some experience operating CNC or other production machinery preferred.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical processes and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and part specifications.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools is a plus.
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to learn new machines, tools, and production techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines to manufacture metal components according to job instructions.
  • Load raw materials and unload finished parts, ensuring efficient machine operation.
  • Start, stop, and monitor machines during the production cycle to maintain consistent output.
  • Perform basic part inspections using measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Review part specifications and follow job travelers, work orders, or basic blueprints.
  • Detect and report machine or quality issues to leads or supervisors.
  • Perform minor machine adjustments and maintain tooling condition as instructed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and keep a clean, organized workstation.
  • Support team production goals and meet daily run targets.

Job Type & Pay
  • Job Type: Full-Time, In-Person
  • Pay Range: $20.00 – $28.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday (8-hour shift)
  • Expected Hours: 40 hours per week (plus overtime as needed)
