Job Description Summary

In this challenging position you will benefit from the guidance of experienced operators as you operate CNC equipment including various types and sizes of single spindle or multiple spindles on a variety of operations (drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, spot facing, countersinking, etc.).

Basic Qualifications

  1. High School Education or GED equivalency.
  2. 3 years machine shop experience
  3. Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools and measuring devices (i.e. - dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.) as required within department.
  4. Understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation
  5. Prior working knowledge of machine shop operations

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  1. Set up and operate CNC equipment
  2. Operate any type and size of single spindle or multiple spindle on a variety of operations (drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, spot facing, countersinking, etc.)
  3. Use all tools, jigs, fixtures, and gages necessary to perform operations
  4. May set up and operate lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, and hand tools to fabricate parts and tools
  5. Check for proper tooling, sharpness, & alignment
  6. Work with close tolerances and fine finishes
  7. Perform tool offset and load parts
  8. Operate multiple machines simultaneously
  9. Perform duties on complex prototypes or first-time builds.
  10. Compliantly troubleshoots tools, fixtures, and equipment as necessary
  11. Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements
  12. Frequent interaction with internal and/or external customers and support functions (i.e. – Planners, Engineering) outside of home department.
  13. Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures
  14. Participate in and lead team initiatives.
  15. Reports problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach.
  16. Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products.
  17. Understands and abides by the GE Leadership behaviors.
  18. Other duties as required.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. 3-5 years machine shop experience in a manufacturing environment
  2. Education and/or training in machine shop operations
  3. Understanding of CNC and manual machine operations
  4. Basic programming knowledge to include reading editing of programs
  5. Experience in a self-directed team environment
  6. Lean manufacturing knowledge

Physical Demands:

  1. Must be able to lift 40 – 82lbs (heavier items with assistance).
  2. Must be able to push/pull up to 20 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay for this position is $24.70/hr. plus $2/hr. for the shift difference. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 4/30/25.
