Job description

General Dynamics Land Systems is a global leader in the design, development, production, support, and sustainment of tracked and wheeled military equipment, specifically the Abrams Main Battle Tank and the Stryker Family of Wheeled Combat Vehicles.

We are looking for skilled machinists / CNC Operators to join the GD Land Systems team.

Responsibilities Include:

• Performs various machining operations such as turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, reaming, tapping, and contouring. Enters revisions of programmed dimensions, feed rates, spindle speeds, etc. on machine console. May operate multiple machines at a work center, lifting, pulling, and pushing manufactured products at the established rate of production.
• Operates and understands measuring instruments, such as height gauges, micrometers, and calipers. Presets tools using equipment like optical tool setters, gauges, or fixtures. Calibrates and adjusts the tool-setting equipment as necessary.
• Oversees the entire machining process, identifying and correcting issues like improper depth, size, or location of holes, and worn or broken tools. Maintains tooling and ensures proper tool changes.
• During machining, cleans and lubricates drilled holes, checks critical part dimensions, and uses gauges and measuring devices at the end of cycles.
• Demonstrates ability to prepare equipment for close-tolerance machining, understand tool layouts, perform basic math, and locate machining points.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate has intermediate to advanced manufacturing skills, but candidates with basic skills will also be considered. Preferred qualifications include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical training or certification from a licensed technical or trade school, preferably in machining, or 6 months to 2 years of experience.
• Strong desire to contribute ideas and learn new skills
• High mechanical aptitude, good communication skills, attention to detail, team-oriented, strong work ethic, and career growth ambition.
• Must be a US Person (legal permanent resident of the USA)
