Job summary

Leonhardt Manufacturing is seeking a hands-on CNC Machine Operator to support machining, tooling, fixture work, and general Tool Room operations. You will use blueprints and precision tools to verify parts and tooling, while progressively developing skills in setup and programming.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of machining, Tool Room, manufacturing, or related mechanical experience preferred.

• Ability to use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.

Job description

Leonhardt Manufacturing is seeking a hands‑on CNC Machine Operator to support machining, tooling, fixture work, and general Tool Room operations. This role is a good fit for someone with machining experience who can handle routine work independently while continuing to build skills in setup, programming, and more advanced machining.

The position operates manual and CNC equipment to produce, modify, and repair parts and tooling, using drawings, specifications, and precision measuring equipment to verify completed work.

Responsibilities

• Work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, samples, or verbal instructions.
• Operate manual and CNC machining equipment to produce or modify parts and tooling.
• Perform basic machine setups and adjustments to tooling, offsets, feeds, and speeds.
• Load and unload parts, fixtures, and tooling.
• Assist with CNC program setup and make basic program or offset changes as directed.
• Perform milling, drilling, tapping, turning, grinding, and other machining operations.
• Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Inspect, deburr, and finish parts to ensure they meet specifications.
• Assist with fabrication, repair, modification, and maintenance of production fixtures and tooling.
• Troubleshoot routine machining and tooling issues and escalates more complex problems as needed.
• Maintain cutting tools, fixtures, workholding equipment, and Tool Room supplies.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform other Tool Room and manufacturing support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of machining, Tool Room, manufacturing, or related mechanical experience preferred.
• Technical school education or training in machining, manufacturing, or a related trade is preferred but not required.
• Experience operating manual or CNC machine tools.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Ability to use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Basic understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, & feeds.
• Ability to perform basic machine setups and adjustments.
• CNC programming experience is helpful but not required.
• Experience with HAAS and Fanuc controls is a plus.
• Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurements.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently after appropriate training.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle tools and materials, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This position regularly works around moving mechanical equipment and machinery. Portions of the manufacturing facility are not air-conditioned and may be subject to seasonal temperature changes. Noise levels vary throughout the facility, and hearing protection is required in designated areas.

Employees are expected to follow all established safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.

Salary: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
