Shifts: 2nd Shift - 3:00pm – 11:30pm; 3rd Shift - 11:00pm – 7:30am

Job Summary

CNC Machinist will perform tasks related to program editing, setup, operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance for CNC machines, custom process machines, and production support equipment. Read manufacturing prints, machine drawings, and operator manuals; adjust tooling and process parameters; interpret programs and interact with Engineering to solve problems and optimize operations. Operate material handling equipment, use various measuring devices, and perform miscellaneous tasks. Willing to work overtime as needed. Work environment may include dust, filings, chips, heat, and noise. PPE is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • CNC Mill, Lathe, and Mill Turn Machining – 60% of time
    • Operate 3- and 5-axis vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, and mill-turn
    • Perform CNC setups, including truing locating surfaces
    • Vet CNC programs and cutter selection on legacy tooling
    • Train less skilled Machinists and Operators
    • Ensure correct fixturing is used and maintained
    • Program presetters and shrink-fit equipment; set tool life parameters
    • Understand macro programming and subroutines linked to main programs
    • Understand GD&T fundamentals
    • Load NC programs, adjust offset tables, maintain/replace cutting tools
    • Document in-process data to QA and production system requirements
    • Measure and record QA data (dimensions, serial numbers, etc.)
    • Perform measuring equipment calibration checks
    • Knowledge of Fanuc, Haas, Mazatrol, Fagor, and Siemens controls
  • Machine Setup and Prove Out – 20% of time
    • Operate material handling equipment including hoists, cranes, tow motors, etc.
    • Read and understand detailed prints and instructions
    • Use indicators, micrometers, and calipers to align workholding
    • Assemble tools and correctly set tool length, alignment, and runout
    • Know work offsets and tool offset parameters for each control type
    • Prove out first piece setups on different equipment
  • General Skills (20%)
    • Use calipers, depth gauges, micrometers, and gaging equipment
    • Utilize tool setting equipment; operate computers and data systems
    • Track orders and maintain traceability; move material through production
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management; work in teams
    • Support 6S and housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean environment
    • Physical: ability to stand for extended periods; lift up to 50 pounds; perform repetitive tasks
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Field of Study/Experience: Machine Tool Technology
  • 2-4 years of CNC machining experience

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform essential job functions in a manufacturing environment. Typical work involves standing for long periods, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing. May be exposed to dust and may lift or push up to 50 pounds 33%–66% of the time.
