Job summary

Miller Industries is seeking a CNC Machine Operator for our SHC Athens, Tennessee facility. You will set up and operate CNC machines, read blueprints, and use precision measurement tools to ensure parts meet specifications.

Join our Machine Shop team on the night shift, with responsibilities including loading materials, verifying dimensions, and adjusting processes for quality. Requires basic math and hands-on machining experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 1–3 months related experience or training.
  • Experience operating CNC machinery and tooling; running mills required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use shop math.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.
  • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
  • Supervise the machines while they execute tasks and make adjustments to improve quality.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare with requirements to ensure proper completion.

Job description

Miller Industries is seeking to fill the position of CNC Machine Operator. This position is based in our SHC Athens, Tennessee manufacturing facility, and is a part of our Machine Shop department. Operator may set up and operate various CNC machines as company needs require.

Summary

Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, drill presses, lasers, lathes, and mills.

--Currently filling positions on 10-hour Night Shift--

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc
  • Ensure working environment is clean and safe
  • Verify specifications
  • Read parts list
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
  • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools; experience in running mills is required for this role.
  • Must be able to utilize various measuring devices, interpret blueprints and use shop math (Basic math is needed due to the technological needs of many fabrication parts).

Regularly required to talk and hear.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Occasionally required to work four 12-hour days, up to 5 days consecutively as business demands.

Ability to wear protective gear due to fumes or airborne particles.

Ability to frequently be exposed to flashing lights.

Must occasionally be exposed to weather conditions, including precipitation, extreme cold and extreme heat.

Regularly required to wear hearing protection in a loud environment.
