About the Position

We are seeking a hands‑on CNC Lathe/Mill Turn Department Supervisor located in Fremont, OH to lead our thermoform tooling machining operations. This role oversees daily department activities—including personnel supervision, scheduling, workflow coordination, and efficiency improvements—while remaining actively involved in machining and programming (approx. 60% of the role) using GibbsCAM. The ideal candidate is adaptable, self‑driven, committed to continuous improvement, and brings experience in operating and programming Lathe/Mill Turning machines.

Education / Qualifications
  • 2 yr. technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 yrs. in CNC machining
  • Minimum 2 yrs. in CNC programming in CAD/CAM software’s (GibbsCAM preferred)
  • Minimum 2 yrs. supervisory experience
  • Highly knowledgeable of thermoform tooling manufacturing preferred
  • Goal oriented with strong desire to achieve results
  • Ability to successfully work on a regular basis with other cross‑functional team members

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibilities to meet daily schedules while ensuring proper resources are available to department personnel
  • Scheduling and approving work hours/shifts for all department personnel to meet manufacturing requirements
  • Effectively and actively manage a team of 4‑8 direct reports
  • Assist with hiring, retention, development, training, supervision, and disciplinary actions of department personnel
  • Employee performance appraisals
  • Ensure performance goals are established and met for scrap/rework, labor efficiencies, and on time deliveries
  • Utilize company goals and objectives to achieve maximum efficiencies through tracking and reporting systems
  • Lead all department personnel to achieve targeted goals as established by Executive Management
  • Champion/Driver of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain continuous improvement objectives related to implementing and maintaining company systems and additional customer requirements
  • Establish process standards and ensure they are documented and adhered to
  • Assist with yearly departmental budget projections
  • Personally, able to supplement department output when necessary. Such as GibbsCAM Programming as well as Machine setups of Mill‑turns
  • Continually evaluate and recommend emerging technology and its application
Environment / Physical Requirements
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 30‑50 lbs. occasionally
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Stand 50% of the time
  • Walk for extended periods of time
  • May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion
