Job summary

W3Global is seeking a CNC Lathe & Automation Setup / Operator to join our precision manufacturing team in Ohio. This on-site role focuses on setting up and operating CNC turning centers with integrated robotic loading and tending systems.

The candidate will read blueprints, adjust machine offsets, and perform minor G-code edits on Fanuc controls, while ensuring tight tolerances through in-process inspections and collaboration with quality personnel.

CNC Lathe & Automation Setup / Operator

A precision manufacturing facility is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe & Automation Setup / Operator to join its production team. This full‑time, on‑site role focuses on setting up and operating computer numerical control turning centers alongside integrated robotic loading and tending systems.

Working under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the technician will ensure smooth production flow, maintain tight part tolerances, and support continuous improvement across automated machining cells.

Core Responsibilities
  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC lathes and automated robotic loading/tending systems for production runs.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, job travelers, and operational routing sheets.
  • Establish tool and work offsets, adjust machine settings, and perform minor G‑code or parameter edits on Fanuc controls.
  • Set up fixtures, jaws, cutting tools, and workholding components to support close‑tolerance machining.
  • Perform in‑process quality inspections using precision metrology instruments including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Safely handle raw materials and finished parts to prevent damage and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Monitor automated machining cells to identify tool wear, surface finish issues, or dimensional variations before defects occur.
  • Collaborate with supervisory and quality personnel to resolve technical issues and maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with plant safety procedures.
Candidate Profile
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience setting up and operating CNC turning equipment in a production environment.
  • Experience working with Fanuc CNC control interfaces and automated machine‑tending systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of blueprint interpretation and mechanical machining principles.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools and dimensional quality verification practices.
  • Basic CNC programming knowledge and offset modification skills.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving ability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented manufacturing setting.
