Work for a growing Northern New Jersey area high-tech manufacturing company

Summary - CNC Lathe Machinist Set-up/Operator/Programmer

Established, ISO-certified contract manufacturer seeking a full-time, dedicated CNC Lathe MACHINIST.

Responsibilities:
  1. Performs SET UP, PROGRAM TEST, FIRST PIECE "PROVE-OUT" RUN, in-process inspections, and operates CNC Lathes to machine precision parts.
  2. Works with production and engineering teams to address and resolve production issues in CNC Lathes.
  3. Responsible for selecting tools, holders, and setting up tooling parameters.
  4. Ensures that the lathe machines are well maintained.
  5. Works in accordance with ISO requirements.
  6. Possesses knowledge of drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, and milling 2D and 3D parts.
Job Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of set-up techniques for production and prototypes.
  • Strong working knowledge of CNC setup and editing with G & M codes.
  • Ability to set up & operate with stainless steel, tool steel, and all ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' machining or lathe experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
  • Measurement and inspection skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading with GD&T is required.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 quality standards is required.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Strong aptitude in mechanical blueprints and drawings.
  • Detail-oriented with strong math skills.
  • Ability to follow process plans, routers, and inspection plans.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Effective communication skills with employees of varying education levels.
  • Understanding of ISO quality standards and requirements.
  • Experience with measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
