Yates Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Programmer/Operator - 2 Axis to join our CNC department. You will program, set up, and operate 2-axis CNC lathes to manufacture hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and components to tight tolerances.

Responsibilities include writing and managing CNC programs, interpreting blueprints, selecting tools, and ensuring quality and safety. A strong math background and experience with Mazak Mazatrol or Fusion is preferred; on-site work with standard

Position Overview

The CNC Lathe Programmer/Operator plays a critical role in the production of high-quality hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to manufacture precision components that meet exact specifications and quality standards. The individual will interpret engineering drawings, create CNC programs, and perform machine setups while ensuring efficient production processes. The role requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, production, and quality teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective cylinder components.

Essential Duties
  • Produce quality machined parts by programming, setting up, and final machining all components.
  • Write, store, and retrieve programs for machined parts.
  • Prioritize work orders for timely completion to accommodate customer needs.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, troubleshoot malfunctions, and repair equipment as needed.
  • Set up, program, finish machine, and verify parts to print.
  • Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints and/or specifications to calculate dimensions, tool selection machine speed and feed rates.

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, And Other Abilities
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to program, edit programs, change offsets, and change tools.
  • Familiarity with all computerized numerical control tooling and methods of machining mills
  • G Code proficiency is a must
  • Skilled in programing and operating CNC Lathes
  • Mazak Mazatrol and Mazak Fusion experience preferred
  • Strong math skills
  • Programming gantry robots, bar feeders, and sub spindles a plus
  • Able to use inspection equipment such as micrometers, depth mic's, thread gauges, and calipers

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
