Job summary

Hunting in Texas is seeking a CNC Machinist 2 to set up and operate CNC and manual lathes or milling machines per engineering blueprints. You will read blueprints, select tooling, and work with engineers and planners to keep schedules accurate.

The role requires knowledge of Mori Seiki multi-axis machines and lean manufacturing principles. You will contribute to continuous improvements, reduce setup times, and support the PM program while handling overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical school certificate or Apprentice preferred.
• 1–2 years manual lathe/mill; 3–5 years CNC lathe/mill experience.
• Proficient in reading blueprints.
• Experience with Mori Seiki multi-axis machines with live tooling.
• Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Background in Engineer-to-Order/Make-to-Order environments.
• ERP system experience.
• Willing to work overtime.

Job description

A CNC Machinist 2 is responsible for understanding the set up and operation of CNC and manual Lathes or Milling machines. The machinist should be able to read and interpret blueprints and understand basic tooling principles for the machines.

Responsibilities:

Machine Operations:

• Set Up, program, and operate CNC and manual Lathes or Milling machines according to HES procedures and engineering blueprints.
• Demonstrated ability to setup a machine and run the job with minimal supervision.
• Knowledgeable of all associated precision measuring tools of the shop.
• Knowledge of tooling, metals (exotics etc.).
• Must communicate with engineers and planners daily to assure routers and schedules are accurate.
• Supports and assists with machine PM program.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Quality:

• Read and understand HES Quality Manual.
• Proven ability to read and interpret critical dimensions on engineering blueprints.
• Responsible for dimensional and quality requirements of components.
• Proactively identify and implement ways to reduce set up times and then communicate such that routers and schedules reflect the improvements.
• Play an active role regarding to "Lean" processes by working and communicating with Planning, Quality, and Peers to identify and implement ways to improve flow to increase throughput.
• Identify potential cost reductions regarding to product design and communicate to Leads and Engineering for evaluation.
• Understands the needs of calibration cycles of test tools

Training:

• Hunting Practices and Procedures.
• Understands all shop and machine equipment Safety Hazards.
• Assist in the training of employees in the "Lean" and "Flow" philosophies and practices.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: A technical school certificate; completion of Apprentice program.
• Minimum of 1 year to 2 years in Manual Lathe or Mill operation and 3 years to 5 years of experience in CNC Lathe or Mill operation.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience of Lathe or Mill programming languages.
• Experience running Mori Seiki multi axis machines with live tooling.
• Experience in an Engineer-to-Order or Make-to-Order shop environment.
• Experience, training, and understanding of "Lean Manufacturing Principles" a plus.
• Proven ability to read and understand blueprints.

• Well organized and multi tasked self-starter.
• Utilize ERP System to perform everyday Job Processes
• Work all regular hours plus Overtime as required.
