Job summary

Wenthe-Davidson Manufacturing in New Berlin, WI, a 100% employee-owned leader in tubular metal fabrication, is seeking a hands-on CNC Machinist to setup and operate turning and milling centers.

You will perform complex setups, run production parts to spec, monitor quality with calipers and gauges, and keep a safe, organized workspace in a team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Basic general education.
• Ability to complete complex CNC setups on multiple CNC lathes and/or mills.
• Language Skills: Ability to communicate with all levels and understand instructions in English.
• Reasoning Skills: Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
• Mathematical Skills: Basic shop math and measurement.
• Ability to use calipers, bore gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Basic troubleshooting to resolve setup or production issues.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC lathes/mills to produce parts in a timely fashion.
• Perform complex setups using setup sheets and routings with appropriate tooling.
• Inspect parts with measuring equipment and maintain tool condition for quality.
• Adjust offsets/lengths to meet tolerances using gages.
• Edit programs under supervision as needed.
• Run production on first runs and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Perform operator-level preventive maintenance on equipment.

Job Summary

Responsible for the setup and operation of all Wenthe-Davidson’s CNC turning and/or milling centers. Performs machine changeovers and runs production parts safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established production standards and customer quality requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Effectively operate all CNC lathes and/or mills in cells to produce parts in a timely fashion.
• Complete complex setups based on setup sheets and work routings. This includes using collets, tool holders, cutting tools, live tooling, fixtures and any other equipment required for proper setup.
• Monitor production parts with measuring equipment and visual inspection at required intervals while maintaining cutting tools to satisfy customers’ quality requirements.
• Adjust offsets and lengths accordingly, as needed, to maintain part tolerances using various measurement gages.
• Edit programs, as needed, under Supervisor direction.
• Perform operations on first production run products.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable work area.
• Perform operator level preventative maintenance on equipment.
• May run more than one machine at a time based on cell design.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Basic general education
• Ability to complete complex setups of multiple CNC laths and or mills.
• Language Skills: Ability to communicate with all levels, provide oral and written instructions/directions and understand oral and written instructions in English.
• Reasoning Skills: Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic shop math and measurements.
• Ability to use calipers, bore gages, and other gages for inspection.Ability to follow company designated processes using setup sheets and work routings.
• Basic troubleshooting skills to determine possible solutions for problems which could occur during a machine setup or production run.

Physical Demands

• The ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds for up to eight (8) hours per day.
• The ability to bend and lift up to forty (40) pounds between floor level and a height of five feet six inches.
• The ability to stand and walk on concrete for up to eight (8) hours per day.
• Manual Dexterity: The ability to use hands to manipulate objects (i.e. replace tooling, etc.).
• Quality Assurance: The ability to perform visual inspection of work material to ensure quality standards.
