Job summary

Wenthe-Davidson Manufacturing is seeking a CNC operator to support turning and milling centers in a hands-on, team-oriented environment. You’ll perform basic setups from setup sheets, run production parts safely, and ensure adherence to quality standards.

Ideal candidates have mechanical aptitude, the ability to read instructions in English, and strong attention to detail. This is a full-time role with opportunities for growth in a long-standing, employee-owned manufacturer.

Qualifications

• Basic general education required.
• Ability to communicate in English and follow written/oral instructions.
• Ability to perform basic shop math and measurements.
• Ability to use calipers, bore gauges and other inspection tools.
• Ability to follow setup sheets and work routings.
• Basic troubleshooting for machine setup or production run.
• Able to meet attendance policy.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable work area.
• Perform operator level preventative maintenance on equipment.
• May run more than one machine at a time.
• Ensure parts meet customer quality requirements.

Job Summary

Responsible for the basic setup and operation of Wenthe-Davidson’s CNC turning and/or milling centers. Performs machine changeovers and runs production parts safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established production standards and customer quality requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Effectively operate CNC lathes and/or mills in cells to produce parts in a timely fashion. Generally, machines are running similar/repetitive parts in production cells.
• Complete basic setups based on setup sheets and work routings. This includes utilizing tool holders and cutting tools.
• Monitor production parts with measuring equipment and visual inspection at required intervals while maintaining cutting tools to satisfy customers’ quality requirements.
• Adjust offsets and lengths accordingly, as needed, to maintain part tolerances using various measurement gages.
• Perform operations on first production run products.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable work area.
• Perform operator level preventative maintenance on equipment.
• May run more than one machine at a time based on cell design.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Basic general education
• Language Skills: Ability to communicate with all levels, provide oral and written instructions/directions and understand oral and written instructions in English.
• Reasoning Skills: Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic shop math and measurements.
• Ability to use calipers, bore gages, and other gages for inspection.
• Ability to follow company designated processes using setup sheets and work routings.
• Basic troubleshooting skills to determine possible solutions for problems which could occur during a machine setup or production run.
• The ability to meet the attendance standards stated in the company attendance policy.

Physical Demands

• The ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds for up to eight (8) hours per day.
• The ability to bend and lift up to forty (40) pounds between floor level and a height of five feet six inches.
• The ability to stand and walk on concrete for up to eight (8) hours per day.
• Manual Dexterity: The ability to use hands to manipulate objects (i.e. replace tooling, etc.).
• Quality Assurance: The ability to perform visual inspection of work material to ensure quality standards.
