Job summary

Fisa Rentals in the United States is seeking a 2nd shift CNC/Multi-Turret Lathe operator to run Swiss CNC or CNC Multi-Turret Lathe machines and perform first-article inspections.

You will use micrometers, calipers and other inspection tools, verify material and size before loading, document work orders and SPC procedures, and help ensure on-time delivery while maintaining safety. A 1–2 year operating background or a 3–12 month training period is expected.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate; reading, basic math, blueprint reading.
  • 1–2 years machine operating experience; Swiss CNC or CNC Multi-Turret Lathe.
  • If no experience, training period of 3–12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Operate SWISS CNC or CNC Multi-Turret Lathe; perform startup inspections.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, pin gages and comparators for first-article inspection.
  • Inspect first part off at startup and during production.
  • Check material type and size before loading into machine.
  • Load material into vises; ensure clearance before clamping jaws.
  • Monitor machine for abnormal sounds or tool wear; adjust offsets as needed.
  • Inspect and replace worn tooling; touch off new tooling.
  • Meet or exceed production rates per work order.
  • Read workmanship standards and part drawings; document work orders.
  • Perform SPC and move ticket inspections; document results.
  • Identify nonconforming product or material.
  • Clean tools; complete PM checklist; follow safety standards.
  • Move parts to next operation; remove scrap; assist with setup operations.
  • Other duties as required.

Job description

General Description:

General operation of the production machines such as SWISS or CNC Multi-Turret Lathes when necessary. Responsible for first inspection and inspection during production.

**2nd Shift wage premium**
Responsibilities: (50% Operating, 40% Inspecting, 10% Other)
  • Use micrometers, calipers, pin gages, comparator and various other inspection equipment appropriately
  • Turn on machine. Inspect for obvious problems. Inspect first part off at startup of machine.
  • Check for Proper Material and Size before loading into Machine.
  • Load Material into vises as required, making sure all chips have been cleaned out of clamping areas before tightly securing vise jaws
  • Operate machine watching and listening for possible problems. (I.e. Loud noises, unusual sounds, broken or worn tooling etc.)
  • Ability to understand and modify tool offsets
  • Inspect and replace broken/worn tooling. Ability to touch off newly installed tooling
  • Ability to meet or exceed production rates stated on work order
  • Read, understand information in workmanship standards and part drawings
  • Fill out appropriate sections of work order
  • Perform and document S&R inspection procedures when appropriate (SPC charts, work orders, move tickets)
  • Identify nonconforming product or material
  • Wash tools and return to storage area
  • Complete the preventative maintenance check list
  • Know and follow safety standards
  • Move parts to next operation
  • Remove scrap
  • Help with set-up operations
  • Other duties as required

  • Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity-far/near depth perception, field of vision and accommodation.
Physical Demands:
  • Lift up to 75 pounds
Job Qualification Requirements:
  • Knowledge
  • High school graduate or equivalent; reading, basic math, blueprint reading
  • Experience
  • 1-2 year machine operating experience. Swiss CNC Experience or CNC Multi-Turret Lathe
  • If no Experience then Training Period: 3 months to a year
  • Information/Directions
  • Written and verbal work instructions, workmanship standards book (engineer drawings), quality control documentation (work orders, move tickets)
