Job summary

Cassavant Machining, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ currently seeks a CNC Lathe Operator for the night shift to produce high-precision aerospace components on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

Responsibilities include setup, tool management, and maintaining tight tolerances while following safety standards. Candidates should have strong shop skills, read GD&T, and be able to work independently on two machines.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required or equivalent.
• 5+ years' experience preferred but not required.
• Familiar with Mazak machines is a plus.
• Ability to read GD&T and customer specifications.
• Capable of holding tight tolerances and using inspection tools.

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate to produce high precision aerospace components.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and manage tools.
• Record offsets, replace worn tools, and ensure tool life.
• Adhere to safety standards and paperwork requirements (MOT, travelers).
• Maintain correct part counts and communicate issues to lead.
• Hold tolerances of 0.0002" - 0.0005" with productivity.
• Operate two machines and work independently when needed.
• Suggest process improvements to management.

CNC Lathe Machinist - NIGHT SHIFT

Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing

Location: 3617 E La Salle St, Phoenix, AZ 85040 (40th St and Southern)

Shift: Night Shift (20% Night Shift Differential)

REQUIRED: Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Setup & operate to produce high precision aerospace components on ferrous and non-ferrous materials
• Maintaining a clean and organized work space
• Tool management, entering in offsets to compensate for tool wear etc. Replacement of worn and damaged tools (inserts, boring bars. Etc.)
• Adhering to all company and industry safety standards and protocols. Understanding of industry buy-off requirements, company specific handling & FOD requirements, product identification requirements, filling out company paperwork properly (MOT, Inspection Travelers, Job Sheets, etc.)
• Maintaining correct part counts on the MOT for the operations performed
• Ability to hold tolerances of .0002\" - .0005\" while maintaining a high level of productivity
• Able to work independently and stay on task – operate 2 machines regularly
• Ability to problem solve and communicate process improvement suggestions with management
• Communicate any job-related issues/questions (part feature, program, inspection, etc.) to lead personnel for resolution and or clarification
• Reporting all machine collisions and malfunctions to lead personnel

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Familiarity with Mazak machines a plus
• Proficient with standard types of measuring inspection equipment to verify machined dimensions or product – Indicating Micrometers, Bore Gages, Sunnen Gage, & Test Indicators
• Read and interpret of B/P's including assemblies, dimensions, tolerances, symbols, notes, abbreviations, GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing), and any other standard nomenclature per customer, government, or industry standards and following directions
• Ability to read and interrupt G & M machine codes and program understanding is a plus
• Experience holding tolerances of .0002\" - .0005\" and surface finish requirements of 16 is a plus
• Strong attention to detail, quality-focused, and willing to learn
• General knowledge of standard shop practices and equipment

Basic Qualifications:

• High School or GED
• 5+ years' experience preferred but not required
• Ability to use computer software, company ERP system, clocking in and out of jobs, etc.
• Familiarity with Mazak machines a plus
• Familiarity with live tooling a plus
• Must be able to stand for the majority of the work shift
