Job summary

Prescott Metal is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist/Programmer to program and manufacture parts on CNC lathes. You will study specifications, read blueprints, and generate G‑Code at the controller to produce precise components from metals and plastics.

Responsibilities include loading and unloading stock, performing daily maintenance and safety checks, inspecting finished parts with calipers and micrometers, and keeping a clean, safe work area. Strong mechanical ability and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED or vocational tech school completed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The CNC Lathe Machinist/Programmer is responsible for programming and producing parts in lathe operations from materials such as metals and plastics.Study and interpret specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements.Ability to read blueprints and generate G-Code programs at the controller to produce quality parts.Check that all safety devices/machine guarding are in place and operational.Perform daily maintenance and safety checks.Responsible for loading & unloading of material on the lathes.Maintain log of preventive maintenance on daily/weekly schedule according to manufacturer’s recommendations.Set up and safe operation of the CNC lathes.Alert supervisor of any maintenance or repairs that require outside services.Observe tool and machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.Notify supervisor of any problems and suggest changes that will allow jobs to run more efficiently.Keep track of scrap material generated by jobs.Inspecting final products using high tolerance measuring equipment, such as calipers and micrometers.Keep the area clean, neat and orderly to prevent slips, trips, and falls.Miscellaneous duties as assigned to help Tee Enterprises achieve its goals.Inspection Requirements:Check for any material defects or damage.Verify quantity.Verify orientation.Inspects cut stock parts throughout the operation to assure quality.Minimum Qualifications/Technical Knowledge Required:HS Diploma/GED or vocational tech school.Strong mechanical ability.Knowledge of computer software, drawings, DXF’s, and ability to draw using AutoCAD.Ability to interpret mechanical drawings with training.Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and cross functional interpersonal skills.Strong work ethic, integrity, initiative, and “can-do” attitude.Ability to work in a “team environment.”Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Interpret work orders.Ability to identify different material/metal.Ability to read job specifications to determine machine adjustments.Ability to read tape measure and dial caliper.
