Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist for a direct-hire role in New Britain, CT. The successful candidate will independently set up and operate CNC lathe equipment (Nakamura preferred), interpret blueprints and work instructions, and ensure high-quality output.

Responsibilities include selecting tooling, setting feeds and speeds, performing inspections, training operators, and maintaining a safe, organized work area in the CNC Lathe Department.

Qualifications

• Five years of CNC machine setup experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and work instructions.
• Experience with Nakamura equipment preferred.
• Independently set up and operate CNC lathe equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe equipment, including Nakamura machines.
• Work independently from blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
• Select, change, and set all required tooling.
• Determine and adjust appropriate feeds and speeds.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
• Properly use and understand measuring and gauging equipment.
• Ensure the quality of all products produced on assigned machines.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues.
• Train and monitor operators within the department.
• Perform 5S activities and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Conduct line walks in the lathe area as directed by the supervisor.
• Follow all company safety policies and promptly report unsafe conditions or practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
