Description
CNC Lathe Machinist
Euclid, Ohio | $22–$27/hour + Shift Differential| Benefits Starting Day One
Precision Machining Takes More Than Pushing a Button.
You know when a setup is right. You know when a cut doesn’t sound right. And you know that a few thousandths can be the difference between a finished part and scrap.
Elmet Technologies is hiring a CNC Lathe Machinist
to join our manufacturing team in Euclid, Ohio. In this role, you’ll set up and operate CNC equipment to machine precision components from specialized materials. You’ll work from blueprints and technical specifications, prepare tooling, set up fixtures and workpieces, machine first articles, make offsets and adjustments, and inspect your work to make sure every part meets requirements.
The underlying role requires hands‑on CNC setup and operation across machining functions including turning, cutting, drilling, reaming, and boring. This is an experienced machining position for someone who understands the entire process—not just how to start the machine.

- Read and interpret blueprints, routing sheets, sketches, and technical specifications
- Determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining sequences
- Prepare and preset tools for CNC equipment
- Set up CNC lathes for turning and related machining operations
- Mount, align, and secure fixtures, tooling, attachments, and workpieces
- Assemble cutting tools and position tool holders in machine turrets
- Retrieve and load preprogrammed machining instructions
- Calculate and set machine controls and key process variables
- Verify setups against required dimensions, depths, angles, tolerances, and specifications
- Machine first-article parts for inspection and quality approval
- Monitor machine operation throughout the production process
- Perform tool changes and make offsets and adjustments to maintain specifications
- Make minor adjustments to preprogrammed instructions when needed to meet product requirements
- Perform manual machine functions when necessary
- Recognize programming, tooling, or equipment problems and work with supervisors or programming personnel to resolve them
- Inspect finished work using precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas according to established safety and quality standards
The source role specifically gives the machinist responsibility for tooling and fixture setup, first-article machining, tool changes, offsets, minor program adjustments, and responding to machine or programming problems.
Requirements
You Could Be a Great Fit!

- Understand tooling, fixtures, offsets, and machining processes
- Can use micrometers, dial calipers, dial indicators, optical comparators, and other precision inspection equipment
- Can recognize when a machining process is moving out of specification
- Can make appropriate tooling, offset, or machine adjustments
- Are comfortable working with computer‑controlled manufacturing equipment
- Can troubleshoot problems rather than simply stopping when something goes wrong
- Take safety, quality, and precision seriously
