Company Summary
Advanced Machining & Tooling, LLC ("AMT") is a precision component manufacturing facility in Poway, CA that was established in 1989. AMT specializes in unique or difficult to fabricate aerospace and gas turbine components made from exotic metals. Certified to ISO 9001 and AS9100. We are a tight tolerance, technology-driven company that employs 5-axis milling, turning, water jet cutting, and all forms of EDM.

Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to support the CNC lathe department’s ability to achieve its goals and objectives. This includes the safe and efficient operation of a CNC lathe machine allowing for the achievement of customer expectations for quality and on-time delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC machine for the cutting of metallic materials
  • Tool life management
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches/shop drawings, and engineering specifications
  • Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and various gauges according to process documentation
  • Perform operator maintenance
  • Diagnose and correct equipment or tool issues
  • Perform basic de-burr or rework of work in process
  • Make recommendations to optimize and improve assigned processes
  • Maintain workstation to 5S standards
  • Perform all work according to Advanced Machining and Tooling safety standards
  • Comply with all Advanced Machining and Tooling policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment
This job operates in the production area.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • This position will carry parts and material up to 50 pounds
  • This position requires lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds
  • This position routinely performs reaching, twisting, bending, and grasping in order to package/unpackage parts, move and set tools, equipment, and materials
  • This position will work the forklift or use another technique to bring in anything that is over 50 pounds
  • When deburring, this position will routinely perform tedious operations requiring hand and finger dexterity
  • This position will stand at least 95% of the scheduled shift

Required Education & Experience

  • Minimum 4 years successful prior essential duty related experience.
  • Tool life management experience required
  • Awareness of general safety and quality systems.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret written instructions, blueprints, shop drawings, and engineering specifications in English
  • Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic
  • Experience using G and M codes required
  • Experience with 3-axis machine set up and operation is required
  • Must be able to understand CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) reports
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances required

The company requires access to information or technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other US Government security regulations. Candidates are subject to a background check, drug test, and reference check.

Total Rewards Package
This is a permanent, non-exempt (hourly), full-time position. The hourly pay range for this position is $25 - $35 per hour (depending on experience). Our comprehensive benefit package includes: medical, dental and vision insurance, 401k plan with matching contributions, 10 days of paid vacation annually, 5 days of paid sick leave annually, 12 paid holidays, employee assistance program, FSA and HSA (depending on insurance choice), life insurance, short and long term disability and parental leave.
