CNC Lathe Machinist
Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday – Thursday, 3:30 PM – 1:30 AM (4 10-hour shifts)
Salary: $20.00+/hr depending on experience
CNC Lathe Machinist Role
Our client is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist to independently manage job setups, run high-precision parts, and perform quality inspections. This role exists to ensure accurate, high-tolerance manufacturing of custom-engineered components while maintaining efficient shop-floor operations during the 2nd shift.
CNC Lathe Machinist Responsibilities
- Perform complete setup and teardown of CNC lathe machines according to blueprint specifications and job orders
- Run production parts efficiently while maintaining consistent quality standards
- Perform thorough quality inspections on finished parts upon completion of production runs
- Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and specialized gauges to verify strict tolerances
- Achieve complete operational autonomy on assigned machines within a two-week onboarding period
- Execute minor offset adjustments and basic machine troubleshooting to maintain optimal workflow
- Maintain a safe and clean work area by adhering to shop floor safety guidelines and preventative maintenance routines
CNC Lathe Machinist Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the 2nd Shift Supervisor and has no direct reports.
About You
- Possess hands-on experience independently setting up and operating CNC lathes in a job shop or manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate the ability to operate autonomously on machine setups and runs within two weeks
- Display proficiency with precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and plug/ring gauges
- Understand blueprint reading, GD&T symbols, and dimensional tolerance specifications
- Maintain strong attention to detail with a commitment to part accuracy and zero-defect quality standards
- Exhibit reliability and self-motivation to work effectively during 2nd shift hours with minimal supervision
- Meet physical shop floor demands including standing for extended periods and lifting component parts
