Job summary

iWorkforce Solutions LP is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist for a 3-month temporary assignment in Cedar Park, Texas. The ideal candidate will bring a strong quality mindset and the ability to operate CNC lathes, including Mazak machines. Candidates with experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing facility are strongly preferred.

This role requires the ability to perform multiple setups and inspections, and offers a pay rate of $25 to $30 per hour based on experience.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist for a 3-month temporary assignment. This position requires a strong quality mindset, the ability to independently perform multiple setups per day, and experience operating and setting up CNC lathes in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. Candidates with Mazak experience are strongly preferred, and ROMI experience is a plus.

Pay Rate: $25.00 - $30.00/hour (Based on Experience)

Key Skills Required
  • Strong quality mindset and accountability with ability to identify and contain nonconforming parts with zero escapes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain why parts are not meeting specifications.
  • Independent setup and teardown capabilities in a high-mix, low-volume environment requiring multiple setups per day.
  • Previous experience with Mazak CNC lathes preferred.
  • Experience with ROMI machines is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes, including Okuma and Mazak machines, safely and efficiently.
  • Perform setup changes and first article inspections during production runs.
  • Load parts using overhead lifting equipment.
  • Prove programs, set offsets, perform minor program edits, deburr components, and inspect finished parts.
  • Monitor machining operations and adjust machine controls as needed to maintain quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and technical drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Maintain knowledge of tooling, fixtures, feeds, speeds, cutting tools, and machining parameters.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform basic preventive maintenance.
  • Follow all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of CNC Lathe Machinist experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, setup, and operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to perform multiple setups throughout the day.
  • Experience with multi-axis CNC lathes preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, sitting, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequent use of computers and machinery requiring finger dexterity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and visually inspect components and equipment.
